What does your unique style personality say about you?
When you meet someone for the first time, first impressions are made in 30 seconds or less. You may not like it, but the majority of these impressions are based on your clothes. So what you are wearing says a lot about who you are, your personality and your inner self.

In business, clothes (like first impressions) are everything. If you own a business, you will have spent a lot of time on hiring the right staff, finding the right premises and marketing your brand. So now you have to look at yourself as the owner, if you turn up in jeans and a t-shirt to your meetings, what message is that going to send to your potential clients? Wearing a power suit on an entirely different occasion may have people thinking you have lost a few marbles. What is your business & personal style fingerprint? In business your attire speaks volumes about you, are you monitoring your USP on a day-to-day basis?
USP actually stands for Unique Selling Point. It is a marketing term that businesses use to make sure that their product stands out against their competitors. So what makes you stand out? If you lined yourself up with a group of different women business owners, what would make you different and unique, purely based on what you are wearing?
Everybody has a USP, even if they don’t realise it. Everybody favours certain shops, styles, colours and trends, perhaps subconsciously admittedly, but it’s there. Fling open your wardrobe now and take a look. Is it all black? Are you a shoe fiend? Make a note of this and you’ll start to find out a bit more about yourself.

Margaret Thatcher was fiercely known for her blue suits and impeccable tailoring. If it’s not your clothes that make you stand out, then perhaps it’s your make up or your hair. Many people can recognise Anna Wintour and her sleek bob, and Bjork will always be remembered for her wacky stage outfits, especially her swan Oscar dress by Macedonian designer Marjan Pejoski. You might not like either of these women or their clothes, but you remember them or know of them for these particular traits. These are the Selling Points of these women and are the elements that they will be remembered for long after they are gone.

So take another look at your wardrobe. What will you be remembered for? Do your friends always comment on your amazing jewellery, your penchant for purple eye shadow or your vertiginous heels? If so, then this is probably your USP. You have made a conscious decision that these are the items that you love, and have established over a period of time to suit your personality. Through these items, people will start to form their first impressions of you as you walk into a room. Pick items of clothing that fit your stature, provide you with an air of confidence and show you mean business. Find your go-to items that flatter your figure and portray the right image for both you and your business. When you want to make the right first impression, make sure that your wardrobe USP comes through, and that everybody can see the fantastic, stylish and wonderful YOU through both your clothes and your personality.

See you next time…
