……………Action without vision is a nightmare.”
Getting dressed everyday needn’t leave you scared like this …
You should be running to your private oasis with a smile and feeling blissed out like this instead
Use these 5 steps to whip your wardrobe into shape and give you clarity on next best shopping steps…Stop daydreaming and get active:
Declutter – Before we get tackling your dream purchases…let’s work with what we currently have. When was the last time you wore certain clothes… 1 year, 2 years? Bin it or sell it! Harsh but it’s just collecting dust/premium wardrobe space that could be for something new you are actually going to wear. Decluttering makes space for newness in your life and cleanses the deadweight.
Lay out your ‘grab & go’ clothes – Identify what you are left with and start to see where you can create key outfit combinations. With the space to see what you are working with now you have detoxed the baddies, you can identify your ‘grab and go’ outfits for business or play.
Is it all adding up? - I’m going to throw in a little maths lesson here, why the heck not. But honestly what is your top to trouser/skirt ratio? Do you know? Well you should, because by fine tuning your wardrobe, a pre meeting or presentation outfit nightmare can be averted. In all honesty people pay more attention to your top half so a few extra tops to 1 or 2 decent pairs of trousers is ok. But work out what ratios and combinations you have and where you may need to top up on tops..lol! Invest well first time round in your bottoms as they are doing more miles on the ‘wear’ clock.
Layering – a quick way to update your wardrobe or play around with what you have is to get layering. See which dresses can double up from Summer and move into Autumn with an extra cardigan or a jumper on top or long sleeve tops underneath. Have a play, look at what multiple looks you can create with one or two key dresses or trouser/top combinations. Great layering items are scarves and light blazers also.
Get precious about your accessories - I love my shoes, so every season I make sure each little baby is polished, repaired and ready to go. The power is in the feet ladies, well for me anyway, it’s my wardrobe USP. But don’t make a statement become a nightmare with a clicky heel or scuffed toe. Check what shoes need updating or which additions you might like to add to your staples for Spring/Summmer. Decluttering from step one = more fabulous accessories = more vavoom to your existing wardrobe.
