Styling Without Mirrors
Everyday, millions of women get up and get ready for their working day. 90% of them will have a reflective surface somewhere in their room in which they inspect their hair, make-up and clothes before they leave the house. But imagine if you didn’t have any way of checking what you looked like. Would you be able to confidently walk out of your front door knowing that you look amazing without being able to have a look first?
This is where Styling Without Mirrors comes in. If you think about how much time you spend in front of a mirror in a week, peering at your reflection to see if your outfit looks ok, wouldn’t it be great to get that time back and invest it into your business or career. Time is money after all!

If you want to save some time when you get dressed, here are a few tips to help you feel more confident in your signature styling ability.
- Divide your wardrobe into categories, very simply Work, Rest and Play. But you can play around with subdivisions that suit you - Think carefully about whether you want to divide your work section up further, to make sure that you have a selection of outfits that can take you from board room to bank meeting, or from the office straight to meet your friends. If you are able to pick from one specific section, you will save yourself so much time.
- Have a look at your items and start to categorize them into outfits. For the preliminary stages you are allowed to try the combinations on in front of a mirror. Work out which tops go with which trousers and jackets and which shoes go with what skirt, then put everything back in the wardrobe in order, making it easy for you to pull out an entire outfit in one go.
- Once you have restored order to your wardrobe, the next step is to plan. Try and be organized about setting out your outfit the night before. This will give you time to ‘live’ with the outfit, and make sure that it is perfect for the occasion you plan to wear it for. If you are nervous about meeting a new client or have an important presentation to make, knowing that you feel comfortable and look good in your outfit will take some of the stress away
- Now for the scary part. Once you have organized your wardrobe, planned your outfit for the big bank meeting, fundraiser or simply hung it up ready for work the next morning, you need to cover up your mirror. Remove it from the room, turn it around or cover it with a length of cloth, but don’t be tempted to peek. If you have done the right preparation you really should be able to pull any outfit from the wardrobe, put it on and be ready to go in a matter of minutes.
I can assure you it is a strangely liberating feeling, with the ability to stalk past the mirror with your head held aloof, knowing that you do not need the approving glint of the looking glass to know that you look fantastic every time you leave the house, ready to face any new challenge head on. It is also testament to hold strongly you know and adhere to your signature personal style
